We open our scene poolside at the Hardrock Hotel where Kellen Klein and his posse have been relaxing for the last few days in anticipation for their big debut match against Mike and Danielle. Kellen finishes chugging his bud light before proceeding to smash the can on his forehead and tossing it behind him. Heather, clad in a pink bikini, immediately hands him another beer that she cracked open for him. He guzzles it down before pondering something to himself.
“Y'know babe,” he began with a smile on his face as he laid shirt by the pool watching all of the young co-eds splash around him “when I got rejected by the NFL, I thought my life was over. I was training for that moment and I was overlooked. When that happened, I was convinced that I was going to be pumping gas for the rest of my life. God knows I didn't actually learn anything in College because I got to skate on by due to my athleticism, stunning good looks, and charming personality. Basically, bae, I was groomed to be a star and thought that footbal was my one shot at it. It is funny how life works isn't it?”
“What is funny about what?” Heather asked, as per usual, confused by something someone else was saying. Compared to Heather, Kellen Klein is a rocket scientist. She lays down next to him as she listens intently to his story. She cracks open a beer of her own as well and gently sips from it.
“You know, how I thought my career was over and, somehow, here we are in paradise on the tab of the Valentine Wrestling Syndicate, preparing to make our grand debut on Tuesday Night Tenacity. Well … at least, Abby and I will make our debut.” He looked at her unsure as pouted a little bit.
“I can't believe they left me off the card. Maybe, if I showed some more skin during the show they will book me more often.”
He thought for a moment, looked back at her, realized that if she showed any more skin that she would be naked, and then looked back at her. “Yes, I think that is a good idea. You will get us a lot of attention that way and will probably be booked because of it.”
“Yay!” Heather squee'd with her arms up in excitement.
“My point is that not everyone gets a second chance to become a star. Hell, this is a bigger chance than the NFL because, for the most part, my face would be covered by a helmet. No, what I have this Tuesday is an opportunity to make all of this...” Kellen holds his hands out to the pool area, the place where they are living their life of luxury. “I get to make this our permanent lifestyle. I get to be the person that my parents always told me I was. The only thing standing in our way, babe, are two people who do not appreciate what they have.”
“That would be the break dancer and hispanic sister with the non-hispanic last name that you are facing?” Heather twirled her hair while asking that question.
“Yeah, these are two people who need to step up their game, who have personally been shown by everyone here that they need to improve, but continue with the same bull shit, week in and week out. And then they have the nerve to complain about their losses like they have no control over how much effort they put in. Sure, sometimes, even the best effort will result in a loss ...but no effort every week will GUARANTEE a loss.”
“Well, they haven't said anything over the week or at all towards your match, maybe they are training hard?” Heather suggested.
“Yeah, I think it is more likely that they are going to continue to coast along ...which is straight up insulting to all three of us. I don't want to go against a couple of push overs in my first match. Like any good competitor, I want a damn challenge and I do not think I am going to get it from either one of them.” Kellen shook his head in disgust before continuing his little rant against both of his opponents. “So, you have this company with loads of potential to be one of the best out there today, wouldn't it make sense for you to scratch and claw to be one of the first HUGE stars of the company?God knows that is what I am going to do ...but the Bradleys cannot even do that. They have such a lack of faith in their skills that they have given up before even trying. That, to me, is the attitude of someone who is going to earn the ass kicking we are going to deliver to them. Because guess what?”
“A sandwhich?”
“What?”
“You asked me to guess.”
“I was being redundant.”
“Um.”
Kellen, frustrated by not smart Heather was compared to him, guzzled down his beer before tossing it behind him. He then decided to finish his thought anyways. “As I was saying, we are going to kick Mike and Danielle's ass because we understand the importance of being in this company right as it is trying to establish itself; we understand what is on the line. ALL OF THIS” He held his arms out again. “I was meant to live like this and I know the best way to lose it is by blowing this debut. I was meant to be a star and I will prove it at Tenacity.”
