Cable Arcane’s farewell tour continued as he sat alone at the bar of his father’s favorite dive. He felt the regulars eyeing him up, some aware of who he was and other’s just wondering who this prick was sitting at their bar. Cable half laughed under his breath as he took it all in, the ageing alcoholics wasting their lives away with each sip or shot judging him?
Laughable.
The bar tender, a short rolly polly man with a bad receding hair line, small brown beady eyes and a clear chip on his shoulder glared at Cable from the far end of the bar. Eventually the bar tender made his way down the bar, stopping in front of Cable, clearly not wanting to take his order and not even being polite enough to ask him what he wanted, he just huffed as Cable slowly turned his head from crowd.
”Yeah, I’ll take a water, thanks for asking.”
”Water?”
”Yeah, water, you do serve that here right? I mean you do eventually have to wash those disgusting mugs you serve your swill in?”
The bar tender, “Mitch” as Cable noted by his sewn on name tag just huffed again before walking away.
”You were always such a people person.”
Cable grinned from ear to ear at the sound of the familiar voice. He swiveled on the bar stool to his left where his sister stood, Rachel Arcane. People always told them growing up that they looked like twins but he never saw it. To him she always looked like a complete and total stranger.
”What can I say? I’m not fond of socializing with the dregs of society. Why’d you want to meet here anyways?”
”Because this was dad’s hang out and I just thought-“
”We’d have a nice heart felt conversation about the piece of shit that raised us in his favorite place to forget about his family?”
”Come on Cable, things weren’t great but it wasn’t all bad.”
He looked forward again as “Mitch” placed what appeared to be an unwashed glass with soapy water in it in front of him.
”For you.”
She squinted her eyes at him, a little hurt that he would say that.
”What the hell does that mean?”
He turned back to his left on the chair with a firey look in his eyes.
”Seriously? Let’s see, dad paid for how many of your cars? How many of your private schools? Got you how many jobs? I’ll be damned if I can remember a single thing you actually earned.”
His words cut her deep but as is their families nature she got mad as opposed to upset, almost scolding him in her response.
”Are you still on about that!? Christ, Cable we haven’t been kids in over a decade and you’re still holding onto that grudge?”
Cable stood up from the bar stool, purposely knocking his disgusting water over as he did and looked his sister right in her eyes.
”No, I got over all that years ago. The only thing that still pisses me off is the cane.”
”Granpa’s cane?”
She had a slightly confused look on her face.
”Yeah, the only thing dad ever gave me that he didn’t make me bend over backwards for. You remember what you said to me before I shipped out to the military after that mother fucker nearly broke my nose?”
”N-no?”
”You called me up, told me dad wanted the cane back, I said he can go fuck himself and you told me “We just want it to stay in the family.””
Cable seethed as those words left his lips, the anger was extremely visible on his face. Rachel looked perplexed but quickly shot back.
”You know what I meant-“
”No I don’t know what you meant! I know what you said.”
Cable moved a little closer to her, the drunks all turned in their chairs, ready to jump Cable if he so much as touched his sister, “Mitch” reached for his phone preparing to call the cops.
”I agreed to meet you here for one reason.”
”And what’s that?”
”So I can look in the eyes when I tell you to go fuck yourself.”
He brushed past her quickly making his way for the door. She spun on her heels ready to give him hell but before she could even open her mouth he was out the door and on the side walk. Gone from her life just like he wanted…

Third match in and I’m already facing the World Champion?
I’ve got to say either I’ve impressed the hell out of management or they’re just that desperate to provide Alex Jones with some real competition. Of course Ana is smart enough to know greatness when she sees it so as far as I’m concerned I’m exactly where I belong.
The main event.
Enough gloating, Alex Jones will do that enough for the both of us. See Alex, clearly I know who you are, maybe I’m lucky enough to be remembered by you, who knows? It’s not really a concern of mine if you remember or not because after our match Tuesday Night you will never be able to forget the name Cable Arcane.
I’m not an incompetent moron like everyone else on this roster, I’m not going to stand here with my chest puffed out and declare your title reign false. You and Ana gave the men on this roster a chance to prove they belong in the main event with you and each and every single one of them failed to rise to the occasion.
Lucky for you I hadn’t been signed yet.
Things would have ended very differently if Cable Arcane had been the one across the ring from you with the World Championship on the line. That’s a promise, Alex. And don’t worry, with the way things have been going for me it won’t be long before your belt is on the line and I rip it out of your hands.
But that’s the future, let’s stay focused on the present.
I know you, I know what you’re about, I know where you’ve been and I know what you’ve done. I know why you and Ana started this promotion, I know why you needed to be the first VWS Champion so badly and I know exactly how far you’re willing to go to keep that belt. You’ve had a long career, one full of injuries, heart breaks and monumental victories. You’ve cemented your place in the annuls of professional wrestling history. You’re one of the most hated men to ever lace up a pair of boots and week in and week out you go out there and prove why you belong in the position you’re in.
Color me giddy.
Thing is Alex, it’s been a long career for you, lots of Death Cages and Asylums and Extreme Rules matches. Countless broken bones, sprained muscles, torn ligaments. I’m not calling you old, I’m just saying maybe you’re not quite as good as you once were…
Good enough to dominant the roster you’ve surrounded yourself with?
Obviously.
But let’s be honest Alex, when you’ve got a roster with names like Landon Dalmon, The Game and Johnny Gilmen as your competition is it any wonder why you’re the World Champion and I’m the number one contender for the Velocity Championship? It’s not as if you’ve gone out of your way to hire the best of the best, myself excluded, you’ve surrounded yourself with a group of men who just couldn’t hack it anywhere else.
I don’t mean to put down what you and Ana have done here, quite the opposite, it’s exceedingly impressive how quickly you were able to put together a world wide wrestling promotion that is already sending shockwaves through the business. And clearly by adding my name to the roster you’re making an attempt to actually present the best wrestling on the planet but let’s be real about the situation here.
I’m your only competition.
And vice versa.
This promotion, while already buzz worthy will be made by the things you and I do in that ring to each other. VWS will be the house that Cable Arcane and to a lesser extent Alex Jones built. And I can say this with the utmost confidence because while I don’t have a feeling for you one way or the other I will stop at nothing to see you knocked off that pretty little perch and replaced by the only man who can truly call himself The Best.
While I appreciate the opportunity to break Landon Dalmon’s pretty little face and get the Velocity Championship around the waste of a real professional wrestler, that belt, to me, is just an appetizer. It’s not going to satiate my hunger for bigger and better things. And your little World Championship reign will only last as long as I am not the man you defend it against.
So rest easy for now Alex, I still have to earn my place in your promotion.
I guess I’ll start doing that by kicking your head off on Tenacity.
Come Wednesday morning VWS will be your promotion in name only. That ring, that title, that locker room that you think you control will belong to me! Valentine Wrestling Syndicate will the domain of Cable Arcane and every moment you’re champion after Tenacity will just be borrowed time. One by one I am going to cut this roster down to size until there is only you and me left standing.
And then there will only be me.
This is my opportunity to show the world that the main event is where I belong! My opportunity to spit in the face of every promoter who said I didn’t have it! My opportunity to grab the man who signs my pay checks by the neck and knock him the hell out!
Alex, I really could care less what you think about me or how you view this match. What you think going in means absolutely nothing! But what you think coming out of this match after I kicked the last ten years of your career clean out of your head. That’s what’s going to matter!
I know you’re going to run your little mouth, Alex, try to get inside my head, get me mad, break my focus. The thing about that is I’m always mad. I’m always ready to beat the living hell out of whoever is across the ring from me. You may think you’re the best in the world and I’m just another new guy biting off more than he can chew but I KNOW I’m the best in that ring! And there is nothing you can say that is going to throw me off my game!
Nothing.
Bring the ego, bring the legacy and bring the championship.
I’ll bring the pain.
When you look at me you’re not looking at the future of VWS, you’re looking at the present because this promotion stopped being your personal stomping ground the second I signed my name. As for what I see when I look at you?
A victim.
No Sleep.
No Rest.
No Mercy.
